Red Light Funding To Replace Long-Missing Franklin Traffic Signal

February 27, 2018
By

$78,000 from the state’s Automated Red Light Enforcement program will be utilized to replace a traffic signal structure in Franklin’s business district which has been missing since the summer of 2016.

The project will replace the signal at the center crosswalk of the 1200-block of Liberty Street in Franklin.  The total cost has been estimated at about $90,000.  There has been no announcement made regarding when the signal will be up and running.

The old signal collapsed in August, 2016.

The funding will come from some $11.5 million being distributed by PennDOT for 41 projects in 35 Pennsylvania cities.  Ironically, the money comes from fines collected from red light violations at thirty intersections in Philadelphia.
