Rear Entrance Now Mandatory At Venango County Courthouse

Beginning Monday (Nov. 25), entrance to the Venango County Courthouse in Franklin will be permitted through the newly-reconstructed rear doors only.

County officials say the front doors will now be utilized only as an emergency exit.

Originally slated to be ready for use in early October, around Franklin’s Applefest, the new entrance off Elk Street will require visitors to pass through one of two metal detectors, one for the use of a scanner for purses, briefcases and other items, and a second for individuals who are not carrying anything.

The renovations to the courthouse were undertaken following a recommendation on security issues from the United States Marshals Service.
