Rays Use Long Ball To Beat Bucs 6-2

Evan Longoria and Ben Zobrist both slammed two-run home runs on Monday night, and the Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-2 in preseason baseball action in Port Charlotte, Florida.

Both homers came in a four-run fourth inning against Pirates starter Kyle McPherson, who lasted five innings, allowing five runs and seven hits.   Shelley Duncan also homered for the Rays (15-14).

Catcher Russell Martin recorded two of the Bucs’ eight hits.  Martin and Josh Harrison drove in the Pittsburgh runs.

The Pirates (12-16-1) will meet the Toronto Blue Jays (12-16) in Dunedin on Tuesday afternoon.
