Pavel Buchnevich score a tie-breaking goal with 8:48 remaining on Tuesday night, and the New York Rangers snapped the Pittsburgh Penguins’ winning streak at four games with a 4-3 win over the Pens in Pittsburgh.

Boo Nieves, Jesper Fast and Mats Zuccarello also scored for the Rangers (15-10-2), who have won 12 of 15 games after starting the season at 3-7-2.  Ondrej Pavelec stopped 41 shots, replacing in goal starter Henrik Lundqvist, who was a late scratch with the flu.  It was just the third win against the Penguins for Pavelec in 17 tries.

Conor Sheary and Phil Kessel both scored for Pittsburgh (15-11-3), and Patric Hornqvist tied the game at 3-3 with a power play score early in the third period.  Pens rookie goaltender Tristan Jarry (4-1-2) made 25 saves in losing in regulation for the first time.

Pittsburgh now trails new first-place team New Jersey by three points in the NHL’s Metropolitan Division.

The Penguins will host New York’s other NHL team, the Islanders (16-9-2), on Thursday night.  Radio pregame time on 96.3 KQW will be 6:30 PM.
