Rangers Beat Flyers In Game 7; New York To Play Pittsburgh In Second Round

With Daniel Carcillo and Benoit Pouliot both scoring goals in the second period, the New York Rangers defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1 in the seventh and deciding game of their opening-round Stanley Cup playoff series, played Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Jason Akeson tallied the only Flyers goal.

With the series win, the Rangers will advance to take on the Pittsburgh Penguins in the NHL Eastern Conference semifinals.  That best-of-seven series will begin Friday night at 7:00 PM at Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.  Radio pregame airtime on 96.3 KQW will be 6:30 PM.

Pittsburgh has been idle since they completed a six-game first-round win against Columbus on Monday night.
