Thunderstorms forced the cancellation of Tuesday night’s game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the St. Louis Cardinals at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.

The contest will be rescheduled for a later date, and will be replayed in its entirety.

Tuesday’s game was originally halted after two innings with the Pirates leading 4-2.  Following a delay of an hour and 24 minutes, the contest was called off.

Pittsburgh starter Jonathan Sanchez had allowed two first-inning runs before the Bucs scored four runs on RBI singles by Garrett Jones, Neil Walker and Pedro Alvarez.  All statistics will be erased because of the cancellation.

The Pirates (6-7) and Cardinals (8-5) will conclude their series Wednesday night at 7:05 with A.J. Burnett (0-2; 3.71 ERA) scheduled to start for Pittsburgh against the Cards’ Shelby Miller (2-0; 1.46 ERA).
