David Ragan passed the leaders during a two-lap, green-white overtime finish on Sunday to win his second NASCAR Sprint Cup event, the Aaron’s 499 at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama.

In a 7-hour marathon delayed by a multicar crash before the midway point and a 3-hour and 36-minute rain stoppage, the green-white finish was needed by yet another serious crash with about a lap remaining.

Matt Kenseth led for 142 laps, but finished eighth after he was first passed by Carl Edwards, and then by both Ragan and his teammate, David Gilliland, during the overlap sprint.  Ragan’s previous win came last year at Daytona.

Regan Smith won the also rain-delayed Aaron’s 312 Nationwide race at Talladega on Saturday.  Smith finished sixth on Sunday.
