A leading Pennsylvania lawmaker wants to create an advisory panel to look at possible health issues related to Marcellus shale natural gas drilling.

Senate President Pro Tem Joe Scarnati’s bill would create a 13-member panel to study any potential health impacts and any potential health benefits.

Panel members would not be paid.

Governor Corbett’s energy executive says the administration is looking forward to working with Scarnati on his bill.

Last year, the Governor’s office and legislative leaders eliminated a two million-dollar plan to fund a state registry to track health issues related to drilling.
