The office of state Representative Lee James has announced that a pair of property tax/rent rebate clinics have been scheduled in Venango County to help constituents in their applications for the program.
Income-eligible residents can receive rebates of up to $650 based on the rent or property taxes they paid in 2012. Eligible Pennsylvania residents may include those 65 or older, widows and widowers 50 or older, and those 18 and older who have permanent disablities.
Applicants should bring documents proving age, rent or property taxes paid, and income.
The first clinic will take place at the Franklin VFW on Thursday, February 28 from 9:30 AM until 3:30 PM, and the second is scheduled for the Oil City VFW on Thursday, March 7, also from 9:30 AM until 3:30 PM.
Eligibility income limits are set at the following levels, excluding 50 percent of Social Security or Supplemental Security Income and Railroad Retirement I benefits:
$0 to $800 – maximum $650 rebate (homeowners and renters)
$8,001 to $15,000 – maximum $500 rebate (homeowners and renters)
$15,001 to $18,000 – maximum $300 rebate (homeowners only)
$18,001 to $35,000 – maximum $250 rebate (homeowners only)
