A charge of the promotion or encouragement of prostitution against a Cranberry Township man was withdrawn this week in Venango County Central Court, but the man will face trial on other counts after he waived his preliminary hearing on the charges on Wednesday.

53 year-old Charles Barnes was arrested early this month based on activity Oil City Police say occurred on Pearl and Harriott Avenues and Elm Street in Oil City.  Barnes will still face counts of luring a child into a vehicle and simple assault, and two charges of harassment.

Barnes was arraigned on the charges on July 1, and was originally placed in the Venango County Jail on $10,000 bail.  His scheduled July 10th preliminary hearing was delayed until this Wednesday.
