A Polk-area man will be sentenced later this month after entering guilty pleas to charges connected with a police chase in Polk in early March.

In a plea bargain, 51 year-old George Deemer entered guilty pleas in Venango County Court on Monday to charges of fleeing police, resisting arrest, driving without a license, and two drug-related counts.  Deemer had also initially been charged with three different assault counts, including assault on a police officer.

Polk Police say they tried to investigate Deemer’s activities in his truck along Route 62 north of Polk, but that he led them on a chase for nearly three miles.  Officers say Deemer tried to drive through the woods, became stuck, and attempted to flee on foot.  He was also accused of striking an officer in the head with a duffel bag he was carrying at the time.

Police say they had to subdue Deemer with pepper spray to bring to an end the March 5 incident.
