Police in Mercer County say they have arrested the suspect in a incident late Thursday afternoon in which a man was accused of grabbing a nine year-old boy inside the restroom of a Grove City store and twice attempting to pull him inside a bathroom stall.
Law enforcement officials arrested 27 year-old Shawn Miller, from Grove City, on Friday morning.
The boy says he freed himself once, and began yelling for his father who was outside the room. Apparently, the attacker freed the boy when he again started screaming. As the boy fled the restroom and joined his father and a younger brother, the suspect left the store.
A police search centered upon a wooded area behind the store. They could not find their suspect at that time.
Police say Miller was identified through their release of a still photo taken from store surveillance video, and that they received numerous tips leading them to Miller once the photo was made public.
Although the case was handled initially as a possible attempted abduction, Miller has reportedly told police he was simply intending to rough up the child because he had become “mouthy” with him.
