The Pitt Panthers closed the regular season Saturday with an 81-66 victory at DePaul.
The victory ensures that Pitt (24-7; 12-6 Big East) has earned the #4 position in the Big East Conference and will receive a double bye at the start of the conference tournament. The tourney begins Tuesday night, but the Panthers’ first game won’t come until 2:00 PM on Thursday. (Catch the action on ESPN Radio 1120.)
Pitt began Saturday in a three-way tie for fourth place with Syracuse and Notre Dame. The Orange lost a 61-39 decision to Georgetown, and the Fighting Irish were beaten 73-57 by Louisville.
On Saturday, J.J. Moore led Pitt with 21 points, shooting a perfect 13-for-13 with a career-high five three-pointers. Tray Woodall added 18 points as the Panthers shot a torrid 72 percent from the floor.
Brandon Young led DePaul with 22 points, and Worrel Clahar tallied 19.
