Pitt, Penn State Drop Weekend Hoops Opponents

Talib Zanna recorded 12 points and nine rebounds Sunday, leading Pitt (12-1) past Kennesaw State in their last basketball game before they begin their final Big East Conference schedule.

Pitt’s only “preseason” loss came to Michigan, currently ranked second in the country, in the finale of the NIT Tipoff Tournament.  The Panthers are ranked 24th this week.  Kennesaw State (1-11) has now lost ten straight games.

Meanwhile, Penn State inproved to 7-4 with a 72-45 victory over New Hampshire.

Jermaine Marshall (15 points), Sasa Borovnjak (11), Brandon Taylor (10) and D.J. Newbill (10) all reached double figures for the Nittany Lions.  The Wildcats (4-7) shot just 28 percent from the floor (7-for-25) in the second half.
