The Pitt Panthers (24-8) were seeded 8th in the West Regional in the men’s NCAA college basketball tournament on Sunday, three days after their elimination by Syracuse in the quarterfinals of the Big East Conference tournament.
Pitt will first meet #9 Wichita State (26-8) in a game to be played in Salt Lake City on Thursday afternoon at 1:40 PM (EDT). A Panthers win would likely match them against the region’s top-ranked seed, Gonzaga, in the next round on Saturday.
Louisville, Kansas and Indiana are the other #1 seeds.
Pitt is one of five Pennsylvania schools in the NCAA field, along with Villanova, Temple, LaSalle and Bucknell.
