Starling Marte and Jordan Luplow both homered on Sunday afternoon as the Pittsburgh Pirates won the rubber game of a three-game home series with the St. Louis Cardinals by a 4-1 score.

Marte and Christopher Bostick both tallied two hits for the Bucs (71-85).

Pittsburgh starter Jameson Taillon (8-7) worked five innings for the win, allowing only one run and four hits with six strikeouts and one walk.  Closer Felipe Rivero, the fifth Pirates reliever of the game, pitched a perfect ninth inning for his 19th save in 21 opportunities.

The loss was tagged onto St. Louis reliever Seung Hwan Oh (1-6), who gave up a two-run homer to Marte in the fifth inning.

Matt Carpenter homered for the Cardinals (81-74), who saw their chances at a Central Division title nearly ended, but with one week remaining in the regular season, the Cards trail Colorado by two-and-a-half games in the chase for the final National League Wild Card spot.

After an off-day on Monday, the Pirates will play their final two home games in an interleague series with the Baltimore Orioles (75-82).
