The Pittsburgh Pirates traded relief pitcher Bryan Morris to the Miami Marlins over the weekend in exchange for a second-round pick in Thursday’s Major League Baseball draft — the 39th overall selection.

In 21 appearances this season, Morris – a 2006 first-round draft pick of the Los Angeles Dodgers – had posted a 4-0 record for Pittsburgh to go along with a 3.80 earned run average.

To fill the open spot on their roster, the Bucs recalled right-hander Casey Sadler from their Indianapolis farm club in the “AAA” International League.  With Indy, Sadler was 6-1 with a 2.66 ERA, and with 36 strikeouts and only nine walks over 50-and-two-thirds innings.
