The Pittsburgh Pirates’ final preseason game, scheduled to be played against the Phillies in Philadelphia on Saturday afternoon, was rained out.

So, the Bucs closed exhibition play with a 15-10-3 record, and will open the regular season Monday afternoon at 1:05 PM against the Chicago Cubs at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.  The scheduled starting pitchers are Francisco Liriano for the Pirates, and Chicago’s Jeff Samardzija.

Seven Pittsburgh pitchers combined on a three-hit shutout in a preseason game in Philadelphia on Friday night.  Neil Walker went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Russell Martin and Clint Barmes both drove home runs.  Tony Watson earned the win in a relief role, and finished spring play at 3-0.
