Pittsburgh starter Stolmy Pimentel (1-1) allowed four runs and nine hits over four innings on Thursday afternoon, and the Pirates lost a 4-2 decision to the New York Yankees in the Bucs’ final preseason game in Florida, played at McKechnie Field in Bradenton.

The Pirates (14-10-3) will play exhibition games against the Phillies in Philadelphia on Friday night and on Saturday afternoon before opening the regular season at home against the Chicago Cubs on Monday afternoon.

On Thursday, Pittsburgh recorded ten hits, but managed only two eighth-inning runs off the Yankees’ bullpen.  Ichiro Suzuki and Eduardo Nunez both tallied three hits for New York.  Yankees starter C.C. Sabathia (3-1) threw four innings of scoreless, three-hit baseball.
