The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) reminds students and their families that the deadline for filing applications for the Pennsylvania State Grant Program is May 1.
To determine eligibility for a need-based grant, families must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at PHEAA.org or fafsa.gov. First-time state grant applicants must also complete a State Grant Form (SGF) which can be accessed through the FAFSA website.
The May 1 deadline applies to all renewal applicants, and to new applicants who plan to enroll in colleges, universities or college transfer programs at two-year public or junior colleges.
Students who are first-time applicants planning to enroll in a community college, business, trade or technical school, hospital school of nursing, or a non-transferable two-year degree program at a community, junior or four-year college have until August 1 to file a FAFSA form.
