February 19, 2013

The Pittsburgh Penguins (11-5) improved to an all-time best 8-2 on the road with weekend wins at Winnipeg and Buffalo and moved into first place in the NHL’s Eastern Conference.  The Pens have played 10 of their first 16 games away from home, but will stay in Pittsburgh for  9 of their next 14 contests.

On Friday night, James Neal scored his 11th goal of the season, and Craig Adams recorded his first two in a 3-1 victory over the Jets.  Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 25 of 26 shots.  Andrew Ladd scored for Winnipeg.

On Sunday, Pascal Dupuis and Sidney Crosby both tallied three points in a 4-3 win over the Sabres.  Dupuis scored a pair of goals and added an assist, and Crosby found the net once and racked up two helpers, including the game-winner by Paul Martin with 2:04 left in the contest.  Fleury (8-3) stopped 30 of 33 shots.

The Pens will host the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday night.  Radio pregame airtime on 96.3 KQW will be 7:00 PM.
