Pens Win 5th Straight Game 4-3 In A Road Shootout With The New York Rangers

The Pittsburgh Penguins killed a 4-man-to-3 overtime penalty disadvantage on Wednesday night, and Brandon Sutter followed by scoring the only goal in a shootout as the Penguins pulled out a 4-3 road win over the New York Rangers for their second five-game winning streak of the season and their tenth win in their last eleven games.

Sutter also scored in regulation, as did teammates Chris Kunitz and Pascal Dupuis.  Marc-Andre Fleury (20-8-1) stopped 29 of 32 shots.

For the Rangers (16-17-2), Carl Hagelin, Mats Zuccarello and Derick Brassard scored.  Henrik Lundqvist, the losing goaltender, also made 29 saves in 32 opportunities.

The Penguins (25-10-1) have opened up a 12-point lead over Washington in the NHL’s Metropolitan Division, and lead Boston by three points for the number-one seed in the entire Eastern Conference.

The Pens will host Minnesota (20-11-5) on Thursday at 7:00 PM at Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.  Radio pregame airtime on 96.3 KQW will be 6:30 PM.
