Sidney Crosby assisted on goals by Paul Martin and Matt Niskanen on Tuesday night, and the Pittsburgh Penguins posted their 10th consecutive victory, 2-1 over the Washington Capitals at Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.
Crosby now leads the NHL with 50 points and with 37 assists.
Niskanen scored the go-ahead goal with 8:02 left in the game. The Pens (23-8) now lead Montreal by three points in the race for the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference.
Pittsburgh outshot the Caps (12-16-1) by a margin of 36-29. Marc-Andre Fleury (16-5) stopped 28 shots for the win, and leads all NHL goaltenders in victories. The Pens have allowed only three goals in their last four games, and just six in their last six contests.
