Pens Remain Unbeaten At Home; Battle Of 7-1 Teams Set For Monday At Consol

Evgeni Malkin recorded the only goal of a shootout on Saturday afternoon, giving the Pittsburgh Penguins a 4-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks at Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.

The Pens (7-1 overall) are 5-0 at home, their best such start since 1994.  Vancouver fell to 5-4-1.

Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby recorded his seventh goal of the season, and added two assists to move into a tie for the NHL scoring lead.  Chris Kunitz tallied his fourth goal for the Penguins, and rookie Ollie Maata scored his first.

Marc-Andre Fleury (7-0) recorded a season-high 36 saves in earning the win.  Roberto Luongo  (4-3-1) took the loss.

In a battle of 7-1 teams, the Penguins will host the Colorado Avalanche at 7:30 PM on Monday night.  Radio pregame airtime on 96.3 KQW will be 7:00 PM.
