Pens Grab First Place With 5-2 Victory In Philadelphia

Conor Sheary scored twice, and Sidney Crosby recorded three assists as the Pittsburgh Penguins grabbed first place in the NHL’s Metropolitan Division with a 5-2 win over the Flyers on Tuesday night in Philadelphia.

With his trio of assists, Crosby reached 1,100 career points.  Phil Kessel, Jamie Oleksiak and Evgeni Malkin also scored for the Pens.  Malkin’s empty-netter with 1:41 remaining marked his 38th goal of the season.  Tristan Jarry (13-5-2) stopped 26-of-28 shots to earn the win.

Scoring for the Flyers (34-22-11) were Jakub Voracek and Travis Konecny.  The Pens have beaten the Flyers each time in the first three of four meetings between the teams this season.

Pittsburgh (39-25-4) will play the Maple Leafs (39-22-7) in Toronto on Saturday night.  Radio pregame airtime on 96.3 KQW will be 6:30 PM
