Despite recording 45 shots-on-goal on Wednesday night, the Pittsburgh Penguins dropped a 5-2 decision at home to the Vancouver Canucks.

Brock Boeser scored twice for Vancouver (11-8-3), and former Penguin Derrick Pouliot added a score, as did both Loui Eriksson and Brandon Sutter.  The winning goaltender was Vancouver’s Anders Nilsson (5-1-1), who stopped 43 shots.

Jake Guentzel recorded both goals managed by Pittsburgh (11-9-3) and the Penguins’ leading scorer, Phil Kessel, assisted on both.  Matt Murray (11-6-1) took the loss while making 32 saves.

The Pens will play a Friday afternoon game at Boston (9-7-4).  Radio pregame time on 96.3 KQW will be 12:30 PM.
