Marc-Andre Fleury recorded his second shutout of the season, and the 25th of his career, leading the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 4-0 blanking of the Washington Capitals in a game played Wednesday in Pittsburgh.
Fleury (13-6) needed to stop only 18 shots in a contest in which the Penguins outshot their opponents 40-18. Pittsburgh (14-8) now leads Washington (12-9-1) by three points in the NHL’s Metropolitan Division.
Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby scored a goal and added an assist, while teammates Paul Martin, Beau Bennett and James Neal also scored.
The Penguins will host the New York Islanders (8-11-3) on Friday night, and will play at Montreal (currently 11-9-2) on Saturday night. Both games will start at 7:00 PM. Radio pregame airtimes on 96.3 KQW on both evenings will be 6:30 PM.
