Pennsylvania Unemployment Climbs Slightly In December

Unemployment in Pennsylvania climbed from 7.8 percent to 7.9 percent in December.

The state Department of Labor and Industry said the number of people working in Pennsylvania grew by 12,000, the number of unemployed increased by about 17,000, and state employers reported total payrolls dropped by nearly 5,000.

The national unemployment rate in December was 7.8 percent.  County-by-county numbers will be released later this month.
