The Pittsburgh Penguins have announced that their 2013-2014 regular season schedule will be kicked off with three consecutive home games, beginning on Thursday, October 3 against the New Jersey Devils.
The Pens will also host Buffalo on Saturday, October 5, and Carolina on Tuesday, October 8. Pittsburgh’s road schedule will start on October 11 and 12 with games on back-to-back nights in Florida, against the Florida Panthers and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The team’s schedule will be suspended after a February 7 home game against the New York Rangers for the NHL’s 18-day break for the 2014 Winter Olympics Games in Sochi, Russia, and will be resumed back in Pittsburgh against Montreal on February 27.
The season concludes with back-to-back home games on April 12 and 13 against the Philadelphia Flyers and the Ottawa Senators.
Under the league’s realignment, the Penguins will play in the newly-created Metropolitan Division with Philadelphia, Washington, New Jersey, the New York Rangers, the New York Islanders, Carolina and Columbus. Thirty of the Pens’ regular season games will be against Metropolitan Division opponents.
