The National Hockey League has announced the team schedules for the shortened NHL season which will begin this weekend.
The slates have been shortened to 48 games due to the just-completed league lockout. Teams began their official practices on Sunday, although players on most teams had already been meeting for informal workouts, and many international players were playing competitive hockey elsewhere.
The Pittsburgh Penguins will begin their season with back-to-back road games, Saturday afternoon at 3:00 PM at Philadelphia and Sunday night at 7:00 PM in New York against the Rangers. The first Pens home game is scheduled for Wednesday, January 23 at 7:00 PM against Toronto.
Pittsburgh’s regular season has been extended through April 27.
MOST PENGUIN HOCKEY GAMES CAN BE HEARD ON 96.3 KQW. Radio pregame time will normally be one half-hour before faceoff.
