The Pittsburgh Penguins kicked off the lockout-shortened 48-game National Hockey League schedule with a pair of road victories over the weekend.
Paul Martin started the Pittsburgh scoring in a 3-1 win at Philadelphia on Saturday afternoon with a goal originally credited to Tyler Kennedy. James Neal found the net for the first of three times over the weekend. Chris Kunitz added an empty net score.
Claude Giroux scored for the Flyers.
On Sunday night, the Pens bombed the Rangers 6-3 in New York. Neal found the net twice, Kennedy also scored, as did Matt Niskanen, Pascal Dupuis and Kris Letang.
Ryan Callahan, Taylor Pyatt and Rick Nash found the net for the Rangers.
Pittsburgh will begin their home schedule on Wednesday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Radio pregame time on 96.3 KQW will be 6:30 PM.
