Panthers Finish 6-7 With Loss In Compass Bowl

Playing without injured thousand-yard rusher Ray Graham, the Pitt Panthers finished a 6-7 season with a 38-17 loss to Mississippi (7-6) on Saturday afternoon in the Panthers’ third-straight appearance in the BBVA Compass Bowl in Birmingham, Alabama.

Bo Wallace threw three touchdown passes for Ole Miss, who finshed four-and-a-half games better than their 2011 record of 2-10.

Pitt quarterback Tino Sunseri completed 16-of-32 passes for 185 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception.  Devin Street and Mike Shanahan were on the receiving ends of the TD throws.  Playing for Graham, freshman Rushel Shell rushed for 79 yards on 25 carries.

Wallace was 22-of-32 yards for 151 yards, and was named the game’s Most Valuable Player.

Pitt, playing their final game as a member of the Big East Conference, went 1-2 in their three consecutive vistis to Birmingham.
