Only minor injuries were reported, although a Franklin man’s car left the Route 8 four-lanes south of Franklin and rolled over numerous times.

State police say the incident happened before dawn on Monday when a car driven by 18 year-old Tony Umstead went out of control on a patch of “black ice.”  The vehicle left the right side of the highway, struck an embankment, and rolled over at least four times, coming to rest in an upright position.

Accident investigators say Umstead was wearing a seat belt.
