Kevin Daly ran for 191 yards and four touchdowns on Friday night, leading the Oil City Oilers to a 34-9 win over Corry in their 2013 high school football opener.

The game was played at Sox Harrison Stadium at Edinboro University due to problems with the turf at Corry’s home field.

Oil City also scored on a 4-yard keeper by backup quarterback Jackson McFall.  Corry was limited to a TD pass from Nathan Smith to Liam Cragg and a field goal by Brody Wood.

Oilers starting quarterback Trent Zdarko was 11-for-17 in the passing department for 165 yards with two interceptions.  Logan Way and Jesse Rice both caught five passes.

Oil City will begin Region 5 play at home next Friday night, hosting Bradford at the Oil Field.  The Owls opened play with a 21-6 victory at Kennedy Christian on Saturday afternoon.

At Franklin, the Knights shook off a dozen penalties and posted an 18-14 victory over Region 3’s Titusville Rockets.

Franklin scored on a 75-yard punt return by Isaiah Rutherford, a 40 yard pass from Kyle Ritchey to Cleo McKinney and a 53-yard run by Kyle Uber, who rushed for 105 yards.  Titusville’s TD’s came on runs by Todd Brown and Easton Hogue.

The Knights will host “AAAA” DuBois Friday in a Region 5 opener at Franklin High School Field, while the Rockets will entertain Reynolds to open Region 3 play on Friday night at Carter Field in Titusville.
