Unemployment numbers climbed in much of the Oil Region in April, even as the state’s jobless figure dipped again – this time to 7.6 percent.
In Venango County, about 2,100 people were looking for jobs in April, pushing the county’s unemployment figure from 7.9 percent to 8.1 percent. In Clarion County, the April jobless figure increased to 8.5 percent from the March level of 7.7 percent. And, in Crawford County, April unemployment was registered at 7.7 percent, up from 7.2 percent.
The nation’s unemployment rate for April was pegged at 7.5 percent.
Elsewhere, unemployment in Forest County was up slightly to 9.7 percent (from 9.6 percent), and Warren County saw their rate climb from 6.3 percent to 6.6 percent, while Mercer County’s jobless number slipped slightly from 8.5 percent to 8.4 percent.
