Oil Heritage Festival Wraps Up Saturday And Sunday

The 2013 Oil Heritage Festival in Oil City will continue through the annual Polka Fest scheduled for Sunday.

Saturday’s events begin at 7:00 AM with the Venango Youth for Christ’s pancake breakfast at Grace United Methodist Church.  The Oil City Firefighters’ 5K Run and Walk will begin on the South Side at 9:00 AM.

Along with the resumption of the Artisan and Fine Craft Festival , the Oil Heritage Art Show and the Oil Heritage Youth Baseball Tournament, other Saturday activities will include a weightlifting competition at Oil City High School, a children’s fishing derby at Waltonia Park, and Youth Alternatives’ 3rd annual barrel race on Oil Creek off North Seneca Street.

The Oil Heritage Festival Parade steps off Saturday at 5:00 PM.  The St. Stephen Church Heritage Festival will conclude Saturday evening in the church parking lot.  Eagles tribute band Hotel California returns to the Justus Park band shell - this time for a Saturday night concert.  And, the festival’s fireworks are scheduled for 10:00 PM.

On Sunday, Grandma John’s Polish Picnic will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM in Stevens and Standard Memorial Park.  A car and motorcycle cruise-in, the FLEX Disc Golf Tournament and the Oil Heritage Raft Race will take place during the afternoon.  The Oil Heritage Art Show will conclude between noon and 4:00 PM.  And, a concert featuring Maidens IV will begin at 12:30 PM at Christ Episcopal Church.

The climactic Polka Fest will run from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM in Justus Park.
