Oil City scored twice through the air and five times on the ground on Friday night and blanked Bradford 49-0 in a Region 5 gridiron opener at the Oil Field at Oil City High School.
Starting quarterback Trent Zdarko twice threw 21-yard scoring passes to Logan Way. Kevin Daly, who ran for 144 yards, scored on rushes of 63 and 11 yards. John Trbusich, Jackson McFall and Morgan Hadley all scored rushing touchdowns as well. The Oilers were 7-for-7 on extra point kicks, with Sam Wilson scoring six one-pointers and Tim Swartzfager adding another.
Oil City (2-0) will host General McLane (1-1) next Friday night in a non-region “AAA” football contest airing on 96.3 KQW.
