About 110 Oil City High School band and chorus members leave Thursday for performances connected to the annual Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival in Winchester, Virginia and in Washington, D.C.

The Oilers marching band, directed by Daniel Cartwright, will perform Saturday in the Apple Blossom Festival’s Grand Feature Parade.  Then, on Sunday, the Oil City chorus, directed by Steve Luxbacher, will sing at the National Cathedral in Washington.

The group’s trip itinerary also includes trips to the Smithsonian Institute, the Air and Space Museum, and to Baltimore.  The students are expected home by Sunday night.

Oil City’s band is one of thirteen on the Saturday parade list in Winchester.  The choral performance at the National Cathedral is believed to be the first for Oil City students in about 25 years.
