Oil City Purse Theft Leads To Two Arrests

An Oil City couple faces charges in a Monday incident that police say began with the theft of a purse.

Oil City Police say a man was arrested after he fled the parking lot of an East Side pharmacy with a purse he snatched from a woman early Monday afternoon.  In the course of the investigation, a woman was arrested on conspiracy and drug paraphernalia possession counts.

Police say 36 year-old Shawn Nelson is charged with robbery, conspiracy, assault and theft by unlawful taking.  31 year-old Jennifer Young was charged with conspiracy, receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both Nelson and Young were placed in the Venango County Jail with their bails set at $50,000.  They face hearings on February 20.
