An Oil City man whom police had accused of physically harming a two year-old girl was sentenced last week to one-to-two years in the Venango County Jail and four years probation.
28 year-old Royez Ludy was sentenced following his guilty plea to a charge of endangering the welfare of a child. In a plea bargain, charges of simple assault and reckless endangerment were dismissed. He will be given credit for eight months already served.
An investigation was begun by Oil City Police after the young victim’s grandmother became concerned because of bruises found on the child’s face, shoulders and buttocks.
Ludy’s former girlfriend, 30 year-old Tracy Strain, had already been sentenced to the same terms in a similar plea bargain last month. Investigators say Strain was charged because she did not seek medical help for the girl.
