An Oil City man was sentenced last week to five to ten years in prison for a robbery committed in January at a bar and restaurant in New Castle.
Investigators said 22 year-old Ward Wise had worked at the same establishment about three years ago.
Wise had entered a guilty plea in Lawrence County Court to a charge of robbery with the threat of injury. In his plea bargain, charges of assault, making terroristic threats, theft and receiving stolen property were dismissed.
Police had claimed that Wise entered the back door of the restaurant, flashed a gun, and made off with more than $1,900.
A 19 year-old New Castle woman, Emily Book, who is accused of being Wise’s getaway driver, faces trial next month. Book’s case has been twice dismissed.
