Oil City Man Faces Charges For Allegedly Striking Police Chief With ATV

An Oil City man faces assault and other charges for a New Years Eve incident in which he may have run over Oil City’s police chief with an all-terrain vehicle.

Police say the incident occurred shortly before 3:30 AM on New Years morning after officers and Police Chief Robert Wenner had responded to a North Seneca Street address on a report that an A-T-V was parked behind the business located there.  As a suspect attempted to flee the scene, the A-T-V reportedly struck or ran over Wenner’s leg.

Wenner and two other police officials eventually subdued the man at the scene.  Police say they charged 32 year-old Ryan Horne with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and the illegal use of a motor vehicle on city streets.

Horne was lodged in the Venango County Jail on $40,000 bail, and was scheduled to face a hearing today.
