An Oil City man faces a number of charges after police say he left the scene of a rollover and vehicle fire in Frenchcreek Township on Wednesday afternoon.

State Police troopers say Steven Mendez did not have a driver’s license.

Reports indicate a dump truck loaded with used shingles and other construction debris, which police say was driven by Mendez, left Waterloo Road at an excessive rate of speed shortly after 5:00 PM Wednesday afternoon.  Troopers say the truck rolled over, and eventually caught fire and exploded.

Mendez was apparently able to free himself from the wreckage prior to the explosion.
