A Venango County Court jury this week convicted an Oil City man of cruelty to animals in the case from last April in which a cat was discovered in a cage that was submerged in water.
61 year-old David Krawiec will be sentenced at a later date.
The cat, which has since been nursed to health, had also been shot several times with a pellet gun. The animal was discovered by a neighbor who heard its cries.
Krawiec said the cat became snared in one of his raccoon traps, and he felt he should put the animal down. He denied shooting the cat.
