The community of Oil City has found its first use for the lately-vacant Brody Block property on the city’s North Side.
A quickly-arranged, but thoroughly-supported effort by the Oil City Rotary Club has resulted in the erection of a community Christmas tree set up in the very middle of the lot. The tree was first illuminated on Saturday night.
The tree, the lights and power cords, and the labor needed to string and hang the decorations were all donated.
The Brody Block complex stood vacant, condemned by city officials, until its demolition last spring. No official permanent use for the property, now owned by the Oil City Redevlopment Authority, has yet been announced.
