No injuries to students or their coaches were reported when a bus transporting the Oil City High School wrestling team to a match in Edinboro was involved in a crash with a tractor-trailer.

Police officials in Erie County say the collision late Wednesday afternoon occurred when the tractor-trailer jackknifed on a hill on Route 6 near Union City.  The bus driver, whose name was not released, was taken to a nearby hospital, reportedly for the treatment of a fractured leg.  No information is available on his status.

The Oilers wrestlers were transferred to a bus from the nearby Fort LeBoeuf School District in Waterford on which they were checked out by medical personnel and spent time waiting for the accident scene to be cleared.

The Oilers’ match with the General McLane Lancers was postponed, and the Oil City contingent returned home on a Union City bus.
