November Unemployment Numbers Were Mixed, But Most Local Counties Saw Slightly Higher Figures

Unemployment numbers dropped slightly in November in Clarion and Warren Counties, but in other areas of the Oil Region, jobless figures climbed somewhat.

Figures from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry show Venango County’s unemployment rate in November climbed from 7.7 percent to 7.8 percent.  About 2,000 Venango County residents were listed as being without work.

Clarion County’s unemployment figure improved from 7.8 percent to 7.7 percent, and in Warren County, the November jobless figure stood at 6.2 percent, down slightly from nearly 6.3 percent in October.

Elsewhere, the Crawford County jobless rate rose from 7.3 percent to 7.6 percent.  Unemployment in November in Forest County was registered at 8.4 percent, up from 8.1 percent.  And in Mercer County, the jobless figure was recorded at 7.9 percent, up from 7.8 percent in October.

Nationwide, unemployment in November was tallied at an even seven percent, and Pennsylvania’s statewide jobless figure for the month was 7.3 percent.
