No injuries were reported in a fire that broke out early Friday morning at a factory in Petrolia in Butler County.
The two-alarm fire broke out at about 3:00 AM at Sonneborn Corporation, the former Witco Chemical facility, just off Route 268.
C-93 Radio posts that early reports indicate the fire probably started in a tank of a substance called petrolatum. The fluid is reportedly used as a base for products like baby oil and Vaseline.
After about two hours, the fire was declared “under control.” Firefighters remained on the scene until after 7:00 AM.
While the official cause is being investigated, company officials are now trying to determine the extent of damage.
