New Canal Township Church To Be Dedicated Sunday

Assuming the delayed shipment of pews arrived Thursday, the new Canal Township Wesleyan Methodist Church near Utica will be dedicated on Sunday afternoon.

Construction of the new church on Deckards Run Road began last June, and the completion of the work was dependant on the receipt of the pews, a shipment that had been delayed due to a factory fire in Oklahoma.

The church building which has most recently been used by parishioners was dedicated 99 years ago, in 1914, and replaced a church destroyed by fire in 1912, but the Canal Wesleyan congregation has been an organized Christian group since fourteen people founded a church in 1849.
