New Bethlehem Man Accused In Venango County Of Attempting To Pay A Minor For Sex Acts

A New Bethlehem man has been charged in Venango County in a State Police investigation in which he is accused of attempting to pay a minor to perform sexual acts.

Investigators tell KQW that Douglas Greenawalt was charged Wednesday with prostitution, the corruption of a minor, unlawful contact with a minor, the criminal use of a communication device and harassment.  Four of the five counts are felony charges.

Greenawalt is accused of creating a Facebook account under another name that police say was used to make contact with a juvenile who was allegedly offered money for sexual acts.  The charges were filed in Venango County because the investigation began at a location on Valley Church Road in Richland Township.  State Police in Venango and Clarion Counties were aided in the investigation by officials from the state Attorney General’s Child Predator Unit.

After his arraignment Wednessday, Greenawalt was lodged in the Venango County Jail with bond set at $50,000.
